Agri-Women To Meet in Arizona

Manhattan, KS, April 5 -- A reception for Arizona women interested in organizing a state affiliate of American Agri-Women (AAW) will be held Thursday, April 7, at the Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel in Phoenix from 5:00 - 6:30 pm, according to AAW president Chris Wilson. Women involved in agriculture in Arizona are invited to attend. Mrs. Wilson said her organization has 60 state and commodity affiliates representing fruit and vegetables, field and specialty crops, livestock, timber, flora and mining industries.

 

“AAW members from throughout the country are looking forward to meeting women involved in agriculture in Arizona and learning about Arizona agriculture,” Wilson said.

 

AAW's annual Midyear meeting is held in a different location each spring to prepare position papers, which the women will take to Washington, D.C. in June. Friday and Saturday, April 8-9, will be work sessions with the following speakers; Welcome by Don Butler, director of Arizona Department of Agriculture; Barbara Jackson, vice-president, American National CattleWomen; Karen Budd-Falen, attorney, Cheyenne, WY; Anna Marie Knorr, Western Growers Assn.

 

An agricultural tour of the Buckeye area will take place on Sunday.
