Topic: Veterinary Workforce Shortages
Veterinary care is vital to healthy livestock and a safe food supply. But in many rural areas, access to large animal vets is shrinking. AAW supports policies that grow and retain the veterinary workforce where agriculture needs it most.
📌 Our Position: AAW advocates for increased recruitment, training, and support for large animal veterinarians in rural areas. This includes debt relief programs and incentives that encourage young professionals to serve farm communities.
🐄 Why It Matters: Without access to veterinary care, animal health—and the stability of our livestock industry—are at risk. Addressing vet shortages helps ensure animal welfare, food safety, and biosecurity for all.
