AAW Policy Bites: Agricultural Labor & Workforce Stability

Topic: Wage Rates & Labor Costs

Labor is one of the highest costs in agriculture—and a one-size-fits-all wage policy doesn’t work on the farm. AAW supports fair compensation but opposes wage mandates that ignore seasonal work, crop type, and regional cost differences.

📌 Our Position: AAW supports wage standards that reflect the realities of agriculture, including harvest timing, weather impact, and market variability. We oppose sudden wage hikes that disrupt farm budgets or penalize small and family-run operations.

💰 Why It Matters: Farmers want to pay workers fairly—but rigid or excessive wage rules can force tough decisions about hiring, crops, or even staying in business. Smart labor policy means balancing fairness with flexibility.
